RIP positive ads in 2012

Many predicted this would be the most negative presidential campaign in history, with outside groups blanketing swing-state airwaves with attack ads. But few thought the hostility would erupt quite so intensely from the candidates themselves.

Barack Obama and Mitt Romney are tearing each other up on the television airwaves in the final days of Election 2012, setting a record for the most negative campaign ads in presidential election history.

A full 86 percent of Obama’s television advertising and 79 percent of Romney’s has been negative, according to the Wesleyan Media Project, which tracks political advertising. By comparison, Obama and John McCain had spent an average of 69 percent of their TV budgets on negative ads by this point in 2008, and George W. Bush and John Kerry had spent 58 percent in 2004.

J’en profite pour vous rappeler que Barack Obama est un homme qui devait changer la politique…
