Gilles Duceppe: Buy my vote for $2 billion
National Post

John Ivison reported the other day that Ottawa is talking to Quebec’s provincial government about compensation for adopting the HST. Ontario and B.C. both got paid off, so Quebec sees no reason why it shouldn’t as well. The price mentioned was $2 billion.

That must have alarmed Gilled Duceppe, who realized he risked looking bad if Quebec’s Liberal government reached a $2 billion deal with Ottawa. What? You mean federalism works? Can’t have that: So, quick like a bunny, here’s ole Gilles declaring that the Bloc will vote against the next federal budget … unless Quebec gets $2 billion in compensation for adopting the HST.

Atta boy Gilles. When you see a parade, get out in front. (And be sure to put a price on your vote. If you want to be bought off, it’s best to be clear on the dollar figure).
