Daniel Hannan est un député conservateur britannique au parlement européen. Le voici éviscérant les politiques économiques de Gordon Brown, le premier ministre britannique.
« You cannot spend your way out of recession or borrow your way out of debt. »

dertel…
C’est sérieux ton truc sur Merkel?
Take the official Conservative Pledge:
Yeah, they want you to turn your lights off, but everybody knows darkness leads to crime.
BTW,take your christmass trees out of the closet and put them in your front lawn, if you can’t turn on all your lights tonight, you should at least take a leisurely drive to spew fossil fuels into the atmosphere or eat a nicely grilled (on charcoal) animal of some kind.
Garvey : What’s the point of doing that? I mean, if it can lead people not to waste their ressources, that could be a good thing for everyone in the long run.
This said, there’s a hockey game tonight, so I really doubt I’ll be shutting down anything.
Being libertarian (or even conservative, even if I’m everything but a conservative) isn’t about being against leftists ideals. It’s about having its own ideals — which happens to sometimes clash with leftists ones.
@ Jyrky.
My point,is that thinking and acting outside the box and not following the propaganda of the lefties like lambs is a healty behavior in counterbalancing their idioties.Beside to you really think that by shutting every lights in the cities the powergrid will shut all their turbines and generators? This save the earth deal thing is just a leftist propaganda promothing the global warming-bull.Just read what follows below and get a copy of the 16 pages agenda of the Coopenhagen accord on Fox News website for the next april meeting.
The Copenhagen Accord, the successor to the Kyoto Treaty, after it is negotiated and signed by December 2009. The Obama administration has said it supports the treaty if the UN can come up with an “effective framework” for dealing with global warming.
Getting this deal done has become the U.N.’s highest priority. The consequences of these negotiations, if enacted, would be nothing short of world-changing. Among the proposed tools are the cap-and-trade system for controlling carbon emissions that Obama adores… “carbon taxes” on imported fuels and energy-intensive goods and industries, including airline transportation; and lower subsidies for those same goods, as well as new or higher subsidies for goods that are considered “environmentally sound.”
Other tools include vague “energy policy reforms,” which the report indicates could affect “large-scale transportation infrastructure such as roads, rail and airports.” The note says that cap-and-trade schemes “may induce some industrial relocation” to “less regulated host countries.” Good news for China! There are a host of other new taxes like a “border carbon adjustment”, which can impose “a levy on imported goods equal to that which WOULD have been imposed, had they been produced domestically” under assumed stricter environmental regimes.
The lunacy goes on and on. If implemented, our global trade would be completely controlled by the U.N. The redistribution of national GDP would be massive, and could decimate industries like airlines and travel. This push has a good chance of succeeding, as it’s right in line with Obama’s declared philosophies and objectives. Welcome to the New World Order.

UN. members are pretty upset at Fox News for obtaining from anonymous source and publishing their document agenda ahead of the nextweek. meeting.
Garvey : What I meant is that it is absolutely unnecessary to do all those things, if you disagree with Earth Day. I won’t change my behavior at all tonight, and I sincerely hope my town and governement won’t do it either, if only because of the mess it will cause on the roads.
I couldn’t care less about what leftists plans for tonight… And I can’t say that I care about what-would-be-rightists (!) plans either.
I think that’s what « Don’t thread on me » is about.
Ah!ah!Poor Jyrki can’t you see the humour in that post?Loosen-up a little bit.
@Jyrki

Finally, some sanity.
German leader Angela Merkel dealt British Prime Minister Brown and US President Barack Obama a defeat today by scrapping their plans for a global « New Deal. »
Ok, after many year of observation, I am now expecting the best of leftist (Marxist) thinkers to come out with their best intelectual replies. You know, the usual Daniel Hannan is a « this » and his father was a « that » type of thing. Really good stuff… NOT!
And for the subject hijackers, don’t worry, I turned on the maximum of lights and stuff myself, in a exercise of my own liberties.
Merkel might be against more spending, however she isn’t backing down from her proposals for more regulations revealed last month.
